The Cambridge House Brew Pub has been serving patrons since 2005. Founded by Steve Boucino and Scott Scanlon, with head brewer Steve Schmidt it quickly became known for its craft beers, including the award-winning Kolsch and Three Steve Stout.
In March 2008, a second location was opened in Torrington. However, the Torrington pub was plagued with many challenges, including management issues and legal troubles, leading to its closure in the summer of 2010. During this same period, the Granby location was sold to a new owner, Scott Riley, in December 2009. Under Riley’s leadership, the brewpub continued to thrive, focusing on quality craft beers and a welcoming atmosphere.
The Cambridge House Brew Pub has survived difficult times, including the economic downturn in 2009, the COVID-19 pandemic and its lingering aftermath. Despite these obstacles, the pub has persisted. It has adapted to changing circumstances with a foundation of real beer, renewed focus on real food, enhancing takeout services, and exploring options like hosting events.
Today, the Cambridge House Brew Pub remains a staple in the Granby community, known for its commitment to “Real Food & Real Beer,” and continues to satisfy locals and visitors alike.
